Part 3 – The truth exposed amidst the luxurious altar, the final chapter for the one who bought happiness with money, and the journey to find true love again by Emma’s side.

The altar, once a symbol of the union between Seattle’s two most powerful families, now turned into a battlefield of shattered emotions. Vanessa, unable to bear the humiliation of becoming a prop in a shocking family drama, decisively tore off her ten-carat diamond ring and threw it straight at Ethan’s chest.

“The wedding is canceled!” She screamed, her face trembling with rage. “You Harrisons better wait to be sued for marital fraud!” She and her clan stormed out of the auditorium, the sound of her high heels stomping against the floor, leaving behind a literal wreck.

True Power Does Not Lie in Money

Victor Harrison watched his strategic partner leave, his chest heaving as he gasped for breath. He tried to hold onto his last shred of dignity, pointing a finger at my face: “Security! Throw this woman and the kids out! She just wants to blackmail us! Isn’t 120 million dollars enough for your greed?”

“Shut your mouth, Victor!” Ethan roared. For the first time in his life, the son who had always obeyed his father dared to cut him off loudly. He walked over, dropping to one knee in front of the four children. His body shook violently as he looked at the four little faces looking at him with curiosity but no fear.

Liam, the eldest son, took a step forward, shielding his siblings and asking in a childish but clear voice: “You’re the man who made my mommy cry every night for five years, right?”

The child’s words were like a knife stabbing straight into Ethan’s heart. He choked back tears, not daring to touch his child’s hand: “Daddy is sorry… Daddy is so sorry… I had no idea you existed…”

I watched the scene, my heart twisting but my mind completely sober. I walked over, placed my hand on Liam’s shoulder, pulled him toward me, and looked straight at Victor Harrison, who was pale from witnessing his son’s rebellion.

“Mr. Harrison, did you think your 120 million dollars could buy everything? You were wrong. Five years ago, I accepted that money not because I was greedy, but because I knew I was carrying four lives inside me. I needed to ensure my children would have the best medical care, the best education, without ever having to beg a cold-blooded man like you.”

“And do you know what I did with that money? I didn’t spend a single cent on myself. I used it as capital to establish the Carter Investment Fund. Currently, I am the hidden majority shareholder holding 15% of the Harrison Group itself, acquired through your crisis stock buybacks last year. I didn’t come here to beg for money. I came here as the person who holds the power to decide your chairmanship at next week’s shareholder meeting!”

This information exploded like a second bomb in the ballroom. Victor Harrison staggered back, almost collapsing if not for a chair supporting him. The man who spent his life manipulating the financial market was now being checkmated by the very woman he despised, using his own money to take over his empire.

The Choice of the Heart

Ethan looked up at me, his eyes free of resentment over the corporate takeover, holding only an earnest, desperate plea: “Emma, I don’t care about the corporation, I don’t care about the money anymore. For five years, I lived like a soulless corpse because I thought you betrayed me. Please give me a chance… just one chance to start over, to be a father to our children.”

I looked deep into Ethan’s eyes. I saw sincerity, agonizing pain, and a love that had never died. He, too, was a victim of an authoritarian father who used power to suffocate his son’s happiness.

“Chances are not for me to grant, Ethan,” I said gently but firmly. “They are for you to prove. Do you dare to give up the title of Young Master Harrison, to abandon the toxic protection of your father, and stand on your own two feet?”

Ethan stood up abruptly, without a moment’s hesitation. He ripped off his expensive groom’s tie and threw it to the ground. He turned to face Victor Harrison, the father he once feared: “From this day on, I am no longer a Harrison. You can keep your soulless glass tower and your piles of money, Father. I am going to find my real family.”

With that, Ethan turned back to us. He didn’t dare to hug me immediately, but he knelt down, reaching his hands out to the four children: “Do you guys want to help Mommy bring Daddy home?”

Lucas and Sophia looked at me for permission. I nodded gently. The two children stepped forward and took Ethan’s large hands. The scene, beneath the lights of the extravagant yet lonely ballroom, was incredibly warm.

A Perfect Ending for the Sincere

One year after the scandal that rocked Seattle.

The Harrison Group, over-manipulated by Victor, fell into a severe crisis after facing commercial retaliation from Vanessa’s family. Victor Harrison, now a lonely man in his massive mansion, finally filed his resignation as chairman. Power fell to the Board of Directors, where my Carter Investment Fund held the deciding vote. But I didn’t seek revenge. I let him keep enough wealth to live comfortably but stripped away his power to manipulate anyone else’s life. That was the greatest punishment for a control freak.

As for us?

In a peaceful coastal town far away from the smog of Seattle, there is a small house filled with laughter. Ethan proved his words with actions. He abandoned the brutal financial business world, became a freelance architect, and spent most of his time making it up to the kids. He learned how to cook, how to braid Sophia and Chloe’s hair, and how to play soccer with Liam and Lucas.

One brilliant evening at sunset on the beach, the four children were busy building sandcastles in the distance, their playful laughter echoing with the sound of the ocean waves. Ethan walked up beside me, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, placing a gentle kiss on my hair.

“Thank you for coming back that day, Emma,” he whispered, his voice overflowing with happiness. “Thank you for saving my life from the coldness of money.”

I turned around, wrapping my arms around his neck, looking into the ash-gray eyes that were now filled with warm sunlight: “I didn’t come back for money, nor for revenge. I came back because our children deserve a good father, and you deserve a chance to love.”

We shared a deep kiss under the sunset that painted the sandy shore gold. Money can buy an extravagant wedding and fake obedience, but it can never buy a true home—a place nurtured by sincerity, courage, and the laughter of children.
